college football is underway/sports

Yes, I know that the first games were played last weekend, but it doesn't really count until Texas gets going.

Nice to see Michigan come back to win vs. UW. Now if CSU can just hang on to beat Colorado, it will be a very good day.

The Texas/North Texas game today is a foregone conclusion, but I'm still really looking forward to it. Just want to see those guys on the field. It's been too long. The last game I attended was the Big XII championship disappointment, and I really want to finish putting that behind me.

for those of you coming from foshdawg.../random thought

Feel free to post comments here. Feedback on the site, compliments, criticisms, whatever.

I'm just getting this set up, and while it's close to how I want it, I'm always up for new design ideas. Got a lot checking out some of yours, probably.

just what I needed to hear/life

First words out of my radio when my alarm went off this morning:
"You don't have to go to work! You can stay at home!"

I was pretty much convinced, but there's always the chance that someone will bring in Krispy Kremes on Friday.

A four day weekend sure does sound nice though.

Yahoo! News - Airlines Stop Baggage Questions

There's a quote in the article that says "Over the years, they [the questions] have lost whatever original value they contributed and can now be safely eliminated".

No freaking kidding. Especially since it's possible to answer both of those questions truthfully and still have intent to bring a bomb, weapon, etc. on the plane. And if a person was planning to hijack the plane, do you think they'd answer the questions honestly?

Glad to see them go.

I'm at it yet again/random thought

But I think now I just need to fix the templates and I'm done.
Still waiting for that bug to crop up that destroys everything, though.

commissioning/dreams

Nothing quite as cohesive as last night...most of the events focused on getting to my brother's Naval commissioning ceremony on time. The only catch was that it was being held in rural Pennsylvania.

Assorted images:
driving fast down country roads while facing the back of the car
taking change out of an arcade game coin slot (Road Warriors)
scouting out a restaurant for post-ceremony dinner
arriving late for the ceremony and still having to change clothes for the event
Nathan not recognizing his commissioning officer, while I did
checking out someone's tricked-out Bentley, with speakers all the way around
Driving seems to be playing a large part in my dreams lately, as well as people not being recognized. Also dreamed of home twice in two nights. Hmm.

haircuts and talking dogs/dreams

I've been getting a lot of questions and comments about growing my hair out...a few compliments, some people saying I've lost my clean-cut image, and some wondering when I plan to end this experiment and just cut it all off.

Given that, it's not odd that my dream last night had me back in my home town unrecognized by some of my old high school friends. One felt threatened by me until I reminded her who I was, and others just ignored me.

The talking dog didn't ignore me, though. I put him in a headlock when he wouldn't leave me alone. After I turned him loose, he proceeded to tell me (in a Spanish accent, which was odd, given that he was a terrier) how he really wanted to be trained. I came up with a system that involved dry cleaning hangers, which we always seem to have in abundance at the house.

Other parts I remember:
Every time I return home in my dreams, there's a bunch of shops on main street that have never been there, but seem to fit in very naturally. Too bad they'd never make it in the real world.

Ganado had apparently just been flooded, the creek that runs by my house was more like a river. Probably about 50 feet deep rather than the usual 2-5. The flood had damaged water heaters, seven hundred (in a town of 1700 people!) had to be replaced.

At one point, I was cruising the main drag in a school bus. It handled pretty well, maybe I should look into getting one.

the real question is.../random thought

Will I spend more time configuring this thing than I will actually posting to it?

I hope that's not the case.

But it probably will be.
