I get the feeling that most of the people that click to this page are trying to find out about me rather than about the site. That information will be here soon.

I was trying to come up with something to write about why this site is what it is, and came up with a wonderful metaphor about how it's taking the place of the vanity plate for my car that I'll never pay an extra $50 a year for.

Why is it the ideas that sound so great at 11:30 at night are so inane when you put them to paper (or bytes) the next day?

I've toyed with the idea of getting a domain for the last year or so. I've been on the computer practically my whole life, but my last real web presence was a clunky site hosted by UTCS back in 1996 that used way too many tessellated backgrounds.

So, here I am with a URL and some space and trying to fill it up. I'm doing my best attempt at developing something nice, which involves finding stuff I like at other sites and a little copy-and-paste action. The photos, however, are all mine. I've taken a lot over the last several years, and there's several that I'm partial to. Maybe you will be too.

For anyone wondering why the heck this site is cureforpain.org, here's a little explainin'.

I was introduced to the band Morphine back when I worked at the UT MicroCenter. Like a lot of music I heard there, it really grew on me. You hear a lot of interesting stuff when you work with part-time musicians.

Cure For Pain is the name of both an album and a song by the band. The drug references are pretty hard to miss, but that's not why I like it. It's just got a good groove and there's something about the way it all fits together. To see some lyrics and hear a sample click here.

The name was something catchy and different, which is what a good domain should be. I mean, what the heck is an Irisar?
